Red Devil Women Improve to 5-1 in Conference Play
| (Gettysburg, Pa.) - The Dickinson College women's tennis team, ranked 16th in the ITA Atlantic South Region, topped host Gettysburg on Thursday to improve to 9-4 overall and 5-1 in the Centennial Conference. | |
The Red Devils won 2-of-3 doubles matches and captured four singles flights to post a 6-3 victory.
First-year Alysia Rodgers (Bethesda, Md./Walter Johnson)earned points with a 6-3, 6-1 win in the top singles flight and an 8-0 decision at second doubles with classmate Sarah Lindner (Warrenton, Va./Wakefield).
Juniors Joelle Nitzberg (W. Windsor, N.J./W. Windsor-Plainsboro S.) and Sarah Woodward (Scarsdale, N.Y./Eastchester) combined for an 8-5 win in the top doubles flight. Woodward captured third singles, 6-1, 6-2.
Alex Bybel (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) and Nora Hajnoczky (Wallingford, Conn./Strath Haven) claimed the fourth and sixth singles flights, respectively.
Gettysburg drops to 9-5 overall and 3-4 in the CC. The Red Devils return home to host Swarthmore College on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
