(Swarthmore, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's swim team turned in some strong individual performances but couldn't get past host Swarthmore College as the Garnet claimed a 148-109 decision in the regular season finale on Saturday.
Senior Olivia Lyman (Mount Kisco, N.Y./Horace Greeley) stayed true to form, winning the 1000 and 500-yard freestyle events with times of 10:40.83 and 5:15.14, respectively. She anchored the 400-free relay to a win with a mark of 3:49.64 and added a fourth-place showing in the 200 freestyle.
Senior Katie Schmidt (Plymouth, Minn./Breck School) touched the wall first in the 200-backstroke with a time of 2:11.43, placed second in the 200-yard backstroke and third in the 200-yard butterfly. She joined the winning free relay and was second with the 200-medley relay.
Junior Molly Sternick (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) claimed a pair of first-place finishes, touching the wall in the 100-individual medley with a time of 1:02.92 and posting a mark of 25.09 in the 50-free. She added a silver in the 100-freestyle and was second with the medley relay.
Sophomore Hannah Griffith (Lansdale, Pa./William Penn Charter) captured second and third in the 200 and 100-yard breaststroke events, respectively, with marks of 2:34.71 and 1:11.13 and joined the medley relay.
Sammy Boswell (Linwood, N.J./Mainland Regional) led-off the 200-free relay and anchored the medley. She was also third in the 100-yard butterfly. Shannon Bonner (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland) swam the third leg of the free relay.
The Red Devils move to 9-4 overall and 4-3 in the Centennial Conference. They will next compete at the Centennial Conference Championships on February 21-24 at Franklin & Marshall.
