(Gettysburg, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's swim team captured third at the Gettysburg Invitational this weekend. Mary Washington held off host Gettysburg by four points to capture the team title 1015-1011. The Red Devils scored 707 points with Susquehanna finishing with 432 and Bryn Mawr tallied 126.
First-year Maddi Vlattas (Herndon, Va./Westfield) set a school record capturing third in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:08.48 and placed seventh in the 400 individual medley in the morning session.
Sophomore Hannah Griffith (Lansdale, Pa./William Penn Charter) came in fifth in the 100-breaststroke and was one of five Red Devils to finish in the top-15 of the 100-backstroke.
Senior Katie Schmidt (Plymouth, Minn./Breck School) won the 100 and 200-backstroke with times of 59.29 and 2:04.61, and placed sixth with the 800 free relay.
Sophomore Madison Littlepage (Aldie, Va./John Champe) was third in the 100-back with Amanda Meinschein (Mount Airy, Md./St. Maria Goretti) and Brooke Kelly (Wilton, Conn./Wilton) touching the wall eighth and ninth, and Griffith was 11th.
Littlepage and Kelly joined Sasha Arefyev (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shady Side) to complete the 800 free relay. Arefyev added a top-10 showing in the 100-freestyle.
Junior Molly Sternick (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) was third in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 59.44 with senior Sammy Boswell (Linwood, N.J./Mainland Regional) and Audree Khalishah (Jakarta, Indonesia/Jakarta International School) placed seventh and eighth.
In the evening session Sternick won the 50-freestyle (24.46) and led-off the 200-free relay for a third-place showing with a time of 1:41.78. Kelly and Boswell placed 10th and 11th in the 50-free. Boswell joined the 200-free relay and placed fourth as the anchor on the 400-medley relay.
Khalishah and Schmidt swam the last two legs of both relays while Littlepage and Griffith led-off the medley. Schmidt and Littlepage swam to fourth and fifth in the 500-freestyle with marks of 5:21.07 and 5:23.03, respectively.
The Red Devils are off for the remainder of the semester. They return to action in Florida on January 8, competing in the CM IM Challenge in Ft. Lauderdale.
