(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's swim team had a remarkable performance to hold off visiting Messiah College, 109-96, on Tuesday night. The Red Devils needed a total team effort and some outstanding coaching as Messiah made a late push.
Senior Olivia Lyman (Mount Kisco, N.Y./Horace Greeley) led the way with a triple-win, capturing both distance events and the 200-freestyle (2:01.02). She won the 1000-freestyle in 11:01.02 and clocked a mark of 5:23.71 in the 500.
Sophomore Madison Littlepage (Aldie, Va./John Champe) gave the Red Devils a one-two finish in the 1000-freestyle with a time 11:33.81.
Molly Sternick (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) posted wins in the 50-freestyle (25.91) and the 100-butterfly (1:00.16) and joined the 200-medley relay for a second-place finish. Senior Sammy Boswell (Linwood, N.J./Mainland Regional) finished second behind Sternick in the 50 free with a time of 25.95 and swam the anchor leg of the medley relay.
Senior Katie Schmidt (Plymouth, Minn./Breck School) captured three silvers on the night. She swam the lead leg of the medley relay and the anchor leg of the 200-free relay, adding another second-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke (1:03.18).
First-year Maddi Vlattas (Herndon, Va./Westfield) was second in the 100-yard individual medley with a time of 1:04.96 and joined the medley relay.
Vlattas and sophomore Hannah Griffith (Lansdale, Pa./William Penn Charter) gave the Red Devils key points, going one-two in the 100-yard breaststroke with times of 1:10.17 and 1:11.09, respectively.
Sophomore Audree Khalishah (Jakarta, Indonesia/Jakarta International School) and first-years Sasha Arefyev (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shady Side) and Brooke Kelly (Wilton, Conn/Wilton) joined Schmidt on the free relay to claim second.
The Red Devils improve to 5-2 on the season. They are on the road this weekend, traveling to the Gettysburg Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
