(Wilkes-Barre, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's swim team had a strong showing, posting two wins against Wilkes University and Lebanon Valley College on Saturday afternoon. The Red Devils posted a 116-60 decision over the Colonels and turned back LVC 112-84.
Junior Molly Sternick (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) was a triple-winner, claiming the 50 freestyle (25.41), the 100 butterfly (1:01.02) and joining the 200-medley relay.
First-year Maddi Vlattas (Herndon, Va./Westfield) joined the medley relay and touched the wall first in the 200-individual medley with a time of 2:21.84. Sophomore Hannah Griffith (Lansdale, Pa./William Penn Charter) anchored the medley relay and placed third in the 200-individual medley.
The Red Devils swept the top three spots in the 100-backstroke, led by Katie Schmidt (Plymouth, Minn./Breck School) with a time of 1:03.73. First-year Brooke Kelly (Wilton, Conn./Wilton) and senior Amanda Meinshein (Mt. Airy, Md./St. Maria Goretti) came in second and third. Schmidt also swam the lead leg of the medley relay.
Senior Olivia Lyman (Mount Kisco, N.Y./Greeley) added another win in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:57.44 and had a strong exhibition showing in the 500. Sophomore Madison Littlepage (Aldie, Va./John Champe) was second in the 1000 with a mark of 11:41.05.
First-year Sasha Arefyev (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shady Side) had a solid meet as well, winning the 200 freestyle (2:03.67) and placing third in the 100-freestyle event.
Seniors Sammy Boswell (Linwood, N.J./Mainland Regional) and Shannon Bonner (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland) went one-two in the 100 freestyle, clocking times of 57.71 and 57.89, respectively. Boswell placed second in the 50 free whole Bonner finished third in the 200-freestyle event.
The Red Devils improve to 2-1 on the season. They travel to Bryn Mawr College on Friday night for a 6:00 pm match-up with the Owls. They return home on Saturday, November 10 to host the University of Scranton.
