(Scranton, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's swim team posted its first win of the season, topping the University of Scranton, 129.5-75.5, on Saturday afternoon.
Sophomore Caitlin Klockner (Acton, Mass./Acton-Boxborough Regional) led the way with a triple-win afternoon. She won the 200 individual medley in 2:19.33, and joined the 400 medley (T-1st) and free relay events. Senior Carson Gannon (Morristown, N.J./Morristown Beard) put three wins on the board as well. She anchored the tying medley relay, and won the 100 (56.92) and 200 yard freestyle events (2:03.77).
Junior Caroline Brennan (Madison, N.J./Madison) added three wins as well, dominating the distance events. She touched the wall in 11:08.00 to claim the 1000 and posted a time of 5:28.30 in the 500. She added her third win of the day with the 400 free relay.
First-year Emily Houser (Fort Washington, Pa./Upper Dublin) got into the act with a triple-win of her own. She captured the 50 freestyle in 25.64 and the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:02.63. She led-off the medley relay as they tied to open the meet with an identical time of 4:11.62.
Classmate Tanita Leary (Larchmont, N.Y./Mamaroneck) was the fifth Red Devil to capture three wins, joining both relays and touching the wall first in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:02.27. Leary edged out senior Rachel Williams (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) by just 35 hundredths of a second in the butterfly.
First-year Lindsay Morton (Orange, Conn./Amity Regional) posted a pair of second place showings in the 200 (57.90) and the 500 (5:36.49) freestyles. Sophomore Katie Nirenberg (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) anchored the winning free relay and placed second in the 100 freestyle (57.90). Clara Russell (Oakdale, N.Y./Connetquot) was second in the 50 free (26.49) and third in the 100 at 58 seconds flat.
The Red Devils improve to 1-1 on the season. They return home to face Bloomsburg University in their home opener on Friday night. The first race is scheduled for 6:00 pm.
