Klockner Sets School Record, Wins Conference 200 IM Title
(Lancaster, Pa.) – The Dickinson College women's swim team is third after the first day of the Centennial Conference Championships while the Red Devil men are currently second.
First-year Caitlin Klockner (Acton, Mass./Acton-Boxborough Reg.) set the school record in the prelims of the 200 individual medley, then broke her mark in the finals. She clocked a time of 2:10.90 in the morning and captured conference gold with a time of 2:09.84 in the final.
Klockner anchored the 400 medley relay to a fourth place finish. They were just off the school record by 23 hundredths of a second, posting a time of 4:06.26. Klockner also anchored the 200 free relay, touching the wall in 1:40.95, just seven-tenths of second off record pace.
Sophomore Caroline Brennan (Madison, N.J./Madison) swam the third leg of the 400 medley relay and claimed bronze in the 500 freestyle. She clocked a time of 5:05.93, while junior Carson Gannon (Morristown, N.J./Morristown Beard) placed sixth in the final with a time of 5:10.48.
Alex Melchiorre (Voorhees, N.J./Bishop Eustace Prep) led-off the 400 medley, joined the free relay and placed fifth in the 200 individual medley (2:12.26). First-year Clara Russell (Oakdale, N.Y./Connetquot) joined both relays and placed eighth in the 200 individual medley, posting a time of 2:14.36.
Competition continues tomorrow and concludes on Sunday night at Franklin & Marshall College.
