Devil Women Drop Opener at Scranton

(Scranton, Pa.) – The Dickinson College men's and women's swim teams both suffered defeats in the season openers on Saturday afternoon at the University of Scranton. The Scranton men posted a 125-77 decision while the women captured the meet with a score of 122-80.

 

The Red Devil women won the 400 free relay with a time of 3:52.34. Sophomore Kasia Szulborski (Shavertown, Pa./Dallas)led the way and also placed third in the 100 freestyle. Jessica Hassinger (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) joined the relay and placed second with the medley relay and in the 50 freestyle.

 

Eva Kolstad (Cheshire, Conn./Hopkins School) swam the anchor leg of the free relay, and placed second and third in the 100 and 200 freestyle events as well. First-year Betsy Mullally (Nottingham, Md./Roland Park) earned a pair of seconds in the free and medley relays.

 

Jamie Bugel (McLean, Va./McLean) chipped in with a second place finish in the medley relay and a third in the 200 breaststroke.Ali Imhoff (Frederick, Md./Frederick) placed second in the free relay and third in both the 50 freestyle and the 200 butterfly.

 

The Red Devils will swim against Susquehanna next Saturday in their home opener. First race is set for 1:00 pm.
