(Bradford, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's soccer team had a strong start to the 2018 campaign, opening the season with a 7-1 victory at the University of Pittsburgh-Bradford on Friday night. The Red Devils went on the attack almost immediately, netting six goals in the first half.
The Red Devils put a pair of goals on the board in a span of just over a minute to take a 2-0 lead in the 14th minute of the match. First-year Charlotte Glancey (Princeton, N.J./Montgomery) found the net with her first collegiate goal, just under 12 minutes in.
Junior Caitlin Gugliotta (North Plainfield, N.J./North Plainfield) stretched the lead to 3-0, finishing an assist from junior Bryce Delaney (Bethesda, Md./Georgetown Prep) and then paid it forward with an assist to Sienna Zittle (Shillington, Pa./Governor Mifflin) for a 4-0 advantage with 14 minutes to play in the half.
Zittle scored her second of the game, nine minutes later with an assist from first-year Jessica Kiefer (Phoenix, Ariz./Pinnacle) and first-year Alena Wade (Aliso Viejo, Calif./Aliso Niguel) stretched the margin to 6-0, scoring unassisted before the break.
The Lions broke through to put a goal on the board in the 57th minute. Julie Barton connected with Grace Dadzaa to spoil the shutout at the 56:02 mark.
Davis answered, just 56 seconds later with an assist from Tara Dedrickson (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) to close out the scoring with the final, 7-1.
The Red Devils outshot the hosts, 25-2, forcing 10 saves from Emily Bethel. Mary Katherine Brosnan (Old Tappan, N.J./Northern Valley Old Tappan) and first-year Carli Boyer (Silver Spring, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase) split time in the nets for Dickinson.
The Red Devils are an action again tomorrow, traveling to Penn State Harrisburg for a 4:00 pm kick-off.
