(Carlisle, Pa.) – Dickinson junior Mary Katherine Brosnan (Old Tappan, N.J./Northern Valley Old Tappan) and sophomore Rachel Lazris (Ellicott City, Md./Wilde Lake) were named to the 2017 All-Centennial Conference Women's Soccer Team, announced on Thursday. Senior Liza Tomczuk (Philadelphia, Pa./Philadelphia Central) was named to the All-Centennial Sportsmanship Team.
Lazris earned Second-team honors in the midfield while Brosnan received honorable mention, following an outstanding season as the Red Devil goaltender.
Lazris settled into a starting role as a holding midfielder for first-year Head Coach Ted Zingman, starting all 17 games this season. She earn starts in all 17 games, last season as well, and has given the Red Devils outstanding play on both ends of the field.
She has scored four goals and handed out one assist while creating numerous opportunities for her teammates. Her ability to handle the ball under pressure and play solid defense are what have made her an outstanding addition over the past two seasons.
Brosnan played every minute in the nets this season, posting seven shutouts on the year. The Red Devils ranked third in the conference with a 1.03 goals against average while Brosnan ranked third in both saves with 81 and save percentage, at .818.
Brosnan opened the season with three straight shutouts and posted a pair of clean sheets against NCAA Tournament qualifiers, Penn State Berks and McDaniel. The junior has earned 23 starts in the past two seasons, allowing less than one goal per game with a 0.96 career goals-against-average.
The Red Devils had a great year in Zingman's first season, finishing 11-5-1 overall and just missing a spot in the conference playoffs with a mark of 5-4-1.
