(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's soccer team had a tough outing on senior night, falling to visiting Haverford, 4-0, at Miller Memorial Field on Saturday.
The 'Fords used a well-executed set piece to put an early goal on the board as Katie Safter served a long ball to Anna Dekle, who had a great look, just 5:07 into the match.
The Red Devils kept the 'Fords in check throughout the remainder of the first half as they tried to generate the equalizer.
Haverford used another free kick to stretch the lead to 2-0 as Sydney West bent a corner into the net in the 51st minute. The 'Fords added another insurance goal as Grace Mathis was in the right place at the right time to collect a loose ball at the top of the 18 and went straight to the goal and scored.
The Red Devils continued to battle but the 'Fords kept the pressure on until the final horn. Haverford tallied their final goal as Saede Eifrig sprinted to the end line and slid the ball in off a rebound from a shot by Skylar Ellenburg.
The 'Fords outshot the Devils, 20-4, on the night, and held a 6-3 advantage in corners. Julie Hanss made a pair of saves to earn the shutout as Haverford improves to 8-5-2 overall and 5-2-1 in the Centennial Conference.
Mary Katherine Brosnan (Old Tappan, N.J./Northern Valley Old Tappan) made 13 saves on the night.
The Red Devils slip to 10-4-1 and 4-3-1 in the CC. They are home again on Wednesday, hosting McDaniel College at 5:00 pm.
