(Baltimore, Md.) – The Dickinson women's soccer team gave Head Coach Ted Zingman's alma mater, John Hopkins, a big scare on Wednesday night, taking a 1-0 lead before the #11/12-ranked Blue Jays countered for a 2-1 decision to remain unbeaten in the Centennial Conference at 4-0.
The Red Devils took the lead in the 28th minute as sophomore Eryn McDonald (Scarsdale, N.Y./Scarsdale) found the net off an assist from classmate Addy Zandi (West Chester, Pa./B. Reed Henderson) on a corner.
The Red Devils held the lead throughout the first half with junior goaltender Mary Katherine Brosnan (Old Tappan, N.J./Northern Valley Old Tappan) making a pair of saves.
Riley O'Toole tallied the equalizer, hitting a long shot, just under the crossbar in the 62nd minute.
Brosnan made another big save with just over eight minutes to play as the Blue Jays earned a corner and hit a strong shot to the far post.
O'Toole would break free on the left side and slipped the ball into the net with just 4:10 remaining in regulation to put Hopkins in front with her ninth goal of the season.
That would be enough as Hopkins, ranked 11th in the U.S. Soccer Coaches poll and 12th in the d3soccer.com poll, improved to 9-2-1 overall and 4-0-0 in conference play. Brosnan finished wiht six saves as the Red Devils slip to 7-3-1 and 1-2-1 on the CC.
Dickinson returns to Carlisle for homecoming weekend, hosting Washington College on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 pm.
