(Latrobe, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's soccer team improved to 2-0 on the season, posting a 3-0 road-win at Saint Vincent College on Saturday afternoon.
Senior Allie Young (New Canaan, Conn./St. Luke's) struck first for the Red Devils, for the second straight day. She redirected a header into the net, just 12 minutes into the match to put Dickinson on the board.
First-year Andrea Caya (Sellersville, Pa./Pennridge) tallied the second goal of her young career, scoring in the 23rd minute. Caya collected a deflected shot off the foot of Michaela Donahue (Bronxville, N.Y./Bronxville) and put the ball in the back of the net.
Junior Erin Sutphen (Robbinsville, N.J./Robbinsville) continued her strong start as well, dishing out an assist to first-year Alexandra Goldrich (Little River, N.J./Red Bank Regional) for her first collegiate goal. Sutphen tallied her third assist in two games, putting the Red Devils on top, 3-0, in the 76th minute.
Junior Charlotte Armour (New Haven, Conn./Choate Rosemary Hall) earned the shutout, the second straight for Dickinson, making just one save on the afternoon.
The Red Devils were dominant all day, outshooting the Bearcats, 37-5. They also held an 8-0 advantage in corners.
Saint Vincent goalkeeper Meghan Lyden made 12 saves for the Bobcats as they slip to 0-2 on the year.
The Red Devils have outshot opponents 86-7 in their first two outings, improving to 2-0 on the season. They return home to face Stevenson University on Wednesday night. Opening kick-off is set for 7:00 pm at Miller Memorial Field.
