Kunkle Repeats on All-Mid-Atlantic Region Women's Soccer Team
(Kansas City, Kan.) – Dickinson College junior Marissa Kunkle (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) was named to the 2011 NCAA All-Mid-Atlantic Region Women's Soccer Team, announced by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). Kunkle makes her second straight appearance on the squad, earning Second-team honors again in 2011.
Kunkle anchored a solid defensive effort while ranking second on the team in scoring with six goals and three assists. She ranked in the top 10 in the Centennial Conference in points and goals scored while the Devils ranked second in the CC with 10 shutouts this season. The Devils were third in goals-against-average, allowing less than one goal per game on the year.
The Devils opened the season with four straight shutouts, and despite overcoming some significant personnel injuries, won six of their final eight games to finish 10-5-1 overall. The Devils recorded shutouts in each of those six games to raise the season total to 10. They have recorded double-digit shutouts in each of the past three seasons, setting a school record with 13 in 2010.
Kunkle was a First-team All-Centennial Conference selection this fall, earning Second-team honors last season.
