'Fords Top Devils in Centennial Conference Opener
(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson College women's soccer team suffered a 4-0 setback in its Centennial Conference opener on Saturday, falling to visiting Haverford. The 'Fords remained unbeaten on the season, improving to 4-0-1 overall.
The 'Fords struck twice in each half to capture the conference opener for both schools. Michelle Babicz put Haverford on the board in the 14th minute, scoring off an assist from Anna Rayne. Katie Van Auken finished a Connie Friedman assist just under four minutes later to stretch the lead to 2-0.
The 'Fords would add a pair of goals late in the game as Allie Chen ripped a shot from just outside the 18 yard box in the 82nd minute. Larisa Antonisse closed out the scoring in the 85th minute, scoring off an assist from Meg Boyer.
Robin Chernow made seven saves to earn the shutout for Haverford. Junior Annie Weichert (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) made seven saves in the nets for the Red Devils.
Haverford held a 17-11 advantage in shots and forced a 6-2 edge in corner kicks. The Red Devils (3-1-1, 0-1) travel to Gettysburg College on Wednesday. Kick-off is set for 4:00 pm.
