(Brooklandville, Md.) – The Dickinson women's lacrosse team improved to 2-0 in the season with a 10-6 win over St. Mary's College of Maryland, on Saturday afternoon.
The Seahawks struck first before the Red Devils answered with four straight goals. First-year Maddy Siebold (Mountain Lakes, N.J./Mountain Lakes) put the Devils on the board at the 16:21 mark and classmate Talene Bush (Winchester, Mass./Winchester) found the net, just a minute later.
The game was scoreless until Siebold struck twice in a span of 28 seconds to put the Devils in front, 4-1, at the 6:35 mark.
Ali Moulas answered off an assist from Ashley Lawrence with 4:14 remaining in the half to cut the deficit to 4-2.
Sophomore Caroline Clancy (Monkton, Md./Hereford) finished an assist from Sydney Stern (Bedford, N.Y./Fox Lane) and scored unassisted, 30 seconds later to stretch the margin to, 6-2, with 24:43 on the clock.
St. Mary's netted goals at the 23:31 mark and at 21:27 to trail 6-4. Junior Kelly Haglund (Chevy Chase, Md./Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart) found the net, off sophomore Jennifer Morrissey's (Rockville, Md./Our Lady of Good Counsel) second assist of the day, with 19:49 to play.
Clancy tallied again, putting Dickinson in front, 8-4, with 13:26 remaining in the game. The Seahawks sandwiched a pair of goals around two more from the Red Devils for the final of 10-6.
Sophomore Mara Cassidy (Silver Spring, Md./Academy of the Holy Cross) scored off the third assist of the day for Stern, and Siebold netted an assist from Catie Ledwick (Weston, Conn./Weston) to close out the scoring for the Red Devils.
The Red Devils improve to 2-0 on the season. They travel to Shenandoah University on Saturday for a 4:00 pm start.
