(Bryn Mawr, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's basketball team kept its Centennial Conference playoff hopes alive with a decisive, 61-30 win at Bryn Mawr College on Saturday.
The Red Devils had a strong start, jumping out to a quick, 6-0 lead and using a balanced attack to take a 21-5 advantage in the first quarter.
The host Owls had solid showing in the second quarter, outscoring the Red Devils, but were only able to do the deficit to 30-16 at halftime.
Dickinson erupted once again in the third quarter, dominating the Owls, 22-5, to lead 52-21, heading into the final period.
Defense played the dominant role in the fourth quarter as the teams played even, 9-9, for the final of 61-30.
Senior Kassidy Lesher (Shoemakersville, Pa./Hamburg) was dominant inside, recording her 10th straight double-double of the season. She led the Red Devils with 12 points and a game-high 16 rebounds, going 6-for-6 from the free throw line.
Sophomore Lauren McBride (Trenton, N.J./Gill St. Bernard's) hit 6-of-8 shots from the field, scoring a game-high 14 points. Halle Maeda (Santa Monica, Calif./Mira Costa) and Hannah Heiring (Wayzata, Minn./Wayzata) both reached double-figures as well. Maeda tallied 12 points, three rebounds and a pair of assists. Heiring scored 10 points to go with five rebounds, two steals and two blocked shots.
Sophomore Lizzie Becker (Philadelphia, Pa./Germantown Friends) chipped in with seven rebounds, five assists and four steals.
The Red Devils improve to 8-13 overall and 8-8 in the Centennial Conference. They return home to face Gettysburg College on Tuesday night at 7:00 pm.
