(Collegeville, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's basketball team suffered a 58-45 setback at Ursinus College on Thursday night.
Senior Kassidy Lesher (Shoemakersville, Pa./Hamburg) recorded her sixth double-double of the season, scoring 14 points and controlling a game-high 15 rebounds, adding two blocked shots and a pair of steals.
Sophomore Hannah Heiring (Wayzaya, Minn./Wayzata) reached double-figures with 10 points while senior Mairead Donahue (Trumbull, Conn./St. Joseph) had another strong outing, pulling down eight rebounds.
The Red Devils held an early lead, holding a 10-8 advantage at the midpoint of the opening quarter. The Bears countered with a 13-4 run to pull in front, 21-14, at the end of the first.
Ursinus edged the Devils 12-7 in the second quarter to take a 33-21 lead at halftime. The Red Devils came out of the break and had a strong third quarter, outscoring the hosts, 13-11.
Lizzie Becker (Philadelphia, Pa./Germantown Friends) knocked down a three-pointer and Lesher went to work inside to lead the charge.
The Bears maintained the lead throughout the fourth quarter to improve to 8-6 overall and 5-4 in the Centennial Conference.
Becker finished with six points while first-year Claudia Maira (Clinton, N.J./South Hunterdon) added five points and Halle Maeda (Santa Monica, Calif./Mira Costa) dished out five assists and had two steals.
The Red Devils slip to 3-9 overall and 3-5 in the Centennial Conference. The Red Devils are in action again on Sunday, facing Washington College at the Palestra on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania at 3:30 pm.
