Mekic Named to All-Centennial Conference Women's Basketball Team

(Lancaster, Pa.) – Dickinson senior guard Belma Mekic (Sarajevo, Bosnia/Cedar Cliff, Pa.) was named to the 2013 All-Centennial Conference Women's Basketball Team. Mekic earned honorable mention, starting all 24 games for the Red Devils this season.


Mekic had an outstanding senior year, leading the Red Devils in scoring, rebounding and steals. She averaged 13.5 points per game, ranking sixth in the Centennial Conference in scoring and fourth in field-goal percentage. As a guard, Mekic controlled 6.5 rebounds per outing, adding 55 steals and 53 assists.


Mekic ranked fifth in the CC in steals and tied for fifth in free throw shooting, hitting 75 percent of her shots from the stripe, and was one of three Red Devils in the top 20 in the conference for rebounding. She recorded three double-doubles on the season, recording 18 points and 16 rebounds against both McDaniel College and Haverford. She played one of her best games of the season against the Green Terror, adding five assists and three steals in a 67-53 win.


Dickinson finished the season, 13-11 overall, and 9-11 in conference play. They opened the season with three straight wins, capturing the 2012 Days Inn Tip-Off Tournament title with a thrilling, 78-74 win, in overtime.
