(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's basketball team celebrated senior day with a 61-37 win over visiting Bryn Mawr College on Saturday afternoon.
The Red Devils jumped out to an early lead, but couldn't break away from the scrappy Owls. The Red Devils did pull away at the midpoint of the first half, putting together and 18-0 run, to lead 37-14, with just under five minutes remaining. They went into the break with a 41-20 advantage.
Dickinson remained in control of the game throughout the second half. A lot of players saw significant action on Saturday, turning in strong individual performances to pay tribute to the Red Devil seniors.
Three of those seniors reached double-figures. Belma Mekic (Sarajevo, Bosnia/Cedar Cliff, Pa.) led the charge with a game-high 15 points and seven rebounds, adding a pair of assists and two steals. Dana Walsh (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) added 14 points, three rebounds, a pair of assists and two blocked shots while Lindsay Finnerty (Tenafly, N.J./Tenafly) scored 10 points and made four steals.
Finnerty went 5-for-6 from the free throw line while Walsh was a perfect 4-for-4. Senior Bridget Borgese (Swarthmore, Pa./Notre Dame de Namur) chipped in with eight points, three assists and three steals. She went 2-for-2 from the line as the Devils hit 14-of-17 free throws as a team. Senior Kelsey Barclay (New York, N.Y./Loyola School) handed out a pair of assists and added a steal.
Nicolette Parmese led Bryn Mawr (1-21, 0-18) with 14 points and six rebounds while Ashlee Williams scored six points and controlled eight rebounds.
The Red Devils improve to 13-9 overall and 9-9 in the Centennial Conference. They are home again on Wednesday, hosting Gettysburg College at 7:00 pm.
