Red Devil Women Suffer Tough Road Loss

(Allentown, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's basketball team, coming off a thrilling one-point win over Washington College on Saturday, suffered a tough, 82-52 loss, at Muhlenberg on Tuesday night.


The Red Devils struck first but the host Mules responded with an 11-0 run to take an, 11-4, advantage at the 14:16 mark of the first half. Muhlenberg extended its lead to, 20-4, with 12:11 remaining.


Dickinson would rally, cutting the deficit to just five, trailing 30-25 in the final seconds of the half. The Mules knocked down a jumper to make the score, 32-25, at halftime.


Colleen Caldwell hit a three-pointer to put Muhlenberg in front, 42-27, at the 16:47 mark of the second half. The Mules continued to build on the lead as the Devils were unable to gain any ground down the stretch.


Senior Dana Walsh (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) led the Red Devils with 15 points and eight rebounds. Classmate Belma Mekic (Sarajevo, Bosnia/Cedar Cliff, Pa.) added 12 points and five rebounds, dishing out a pair of assists.


Bridget Borgese (Swarthmore, Pa./Notre Dame de Namur) and Lindsay Finnerty (Tenafly, N.J./Tenafly) combined for 15 points while Borgese handed out three assists.


Alita Zabrecky scored a game-high 24 points and seven rebounds to lead Muhlenberg (13-8, 10-6). Nicole Pepe added 12 points.


The Red Devils slip to 12-9 and 8-9 in the Centennial Conference. They return home to face Bryn Mawr College on Saturday at 2:00 pm.
