Jordan, Murtaugh Claim CC Softball Player of the Week Honors
(Carlisle, Pa.) - Dickinson College seniors Allison Jordan (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) and Emma Murtaugh (Holmdel, N.J./Holmdel) were named the Centennial Conference Pitcher and Hitter of the Week.
In a rematch of last year's Centennial Conference title game, Jordan tossed a perfect game, retiring 21 straight batters, recording 10 strikeouts in a 5-0 shutout over Swarthmore. She came back to toss a three-hit shutout in the nightcap.
Her line for the week was a 0.00 ERA, going 3-0 with 26 strikeouts and just one walk in 21 innings. She recorded 12 strikeouts earlier in the week, in a complete game win at Gettysburg.
Murtaugh had a monster week at the plate, hitting .800 (8-for-10) with three walks, five RBIs, six runs scored, two doubles and a pair of homeruns. She added a 1.600 slugging percentage, an .846 on-base percentage and was 2-for-2 in stolen bases.
The Red Devils went 3-1 last week, improving to 12-15 overall and 8-4 in the Centennial Conference. The Red Devils host Frostburg State on Tuesday evening at 5:00 pm.
