Devils Start Strong at Championships, Rzempoluch Wins Vault

(Collegeville, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's indoor track & field team is currently in third place in the team standings, at the 2018 Centennial Conference Championships at Ursinus College.

The Red Devils had a great start in the field events, placing first, third and fourth in the pole vault. First-year Kacper Rzempoluch (Princeton, N.J./West Windsor Plainsboro North) won the title with a height of 4.50 meters.

Sophomore Adam Gamber (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) claimed the bronze in a tie-break with a height of 4.10 meters. First-year Gavin Wood (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) also cleared 4.10, earning fourth place points.

Sophomore Bryce Descavish (Ebensburg, Pa./Central Cambria) captured the bronze medal in the 5000 meters, crossing the line in 14:55.50. Senior Nathan Udell (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis) added a top-20 finish with a mark of 15:56.97.

Junior Duncan Hopkins (Lancaster, Pa./JP McCaskey) ran the lead leg of the distance medley relay with classmate Eric Herrmann (Saint James, N.Y./Smithtown) on the anchor for a third-place showing with a time of 10:27.30.

Sophomore Thomas Riordan (Campbell, S.C./Landrum) and senior Billy Dougherty (Mt. Lebanon, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) ran the middle legs of the DMR.

Senior Marcus Robinson (Bowie, Md./St. Mary's Ryken) and first-year Kenny Blessing (Carlisle, Pa./Big Spring) advanced to the finals of the 60 meter dash, clocking identical times of 7.33.

The Red Devils return to Collegeville on Sunday for the final day of competition.
