Hepner Breaks Two School Records at DuCharme

(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's track & field team captured third at the DuCharme Invitational on Saturday at the Kline Center. Senior Mason Hepner (Mount Joy, Pa./Manheim Central) led the way with a pair of school records in the 800 meters and with the 4x1600 meter relay.

Hepner turned in a remarkable finish to win the Rob Jansen Memorial 800 meters with a school record time of 1:55.80. That mark eclipsed Kent Pecora's mark of 1:56.00 from 2011. He anchored the 4x1600 relay to a mark of 17:53.15 to break both the school and Kline Center records. That betters the time of Greg Clark, David Breen, Sean Galiczynski and Ryan Steinbock's 18:01.75 in 2012.

First-year Bryce Descavish (Ebensburg, Pa./Central Cambria) joined the 4x1600 relay and placed third in the mile with a time of 4:28.36. Sophomores Will Chandler (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) and Duncan Hopkins (Lancaster, Pa./JP McCaskey) ran the other two legs of the 4x1600 relay.

Junior Nathan Udell (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis) ran to a win in the 3,000 meters with a time of 9:11.99. Classmate Devin Glasson (Canton, Conn./Canton) won the shot put with a throw of 13.78 meters (45'-2.5").

The Red Devils clocked a time of 3:40.60 to place third in the 4x400 relay. First-year Thomas Riordan (Campbell, S.C./Landrum) ran the lead leg with Eric Herrmann (Saint James, N.Y./Smithtown) and Harry McCarthy (Westfield, N.J./Newark Academy) in the middle. Junoir Billy Dougherty (Mt. Lebanon, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) ran the anchor leg.

Dougherty and Herrman added eighth and ninth-place showings in the 800 meters, posting times of 2:02.81 and 2:02.83, respectively.

Junior Matt Persick (West Chester, Pa./West Chester Henderson) and senior Patrick Nolan (Westport, Conn./Staples) placed fifth and seventh in the 3,000 meters with marks of 9:30.60 and 9:48.87.

Senior Cole Rinehart (Mount Joy, Pa./Donegal) added a top-10 finish in the 5,000 meters, capturing ninth in 16:47.31.

Malcolm Davis (St. Louis, Mo./Ladue Horton) and Robert Pearl (Sea Ranch Lakes, Fla./Pine Crest) claimed seventh and ninth in the shot put with throws of 12.98 meters and 12.33 meters, while first-year Adam Gamber (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) finished eighth in the pole vault with a height of 4.10 meters (13'-5.25").

The Red Devils travel to the Susquehanna Invitational next Saturday.
