(Selinsgrove, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's indoor track & field team traveled to Selinsgrove for the Susquehanna University Challenge on Friday night. The Red Devils squared-off against a mix of Division II and Division III competition.
The Red Devils swept the 3,000 meters, with Mason Hepner (Mount Joy, Pa./Manheim Central) winning the race in a time of 8:39.34. Duncan Hopkins (Lancaster, Pa./JP McCaskey) and first-year Bryce Descavish (Ebensburg, Pa./Central Cambria) claimed silver and bronze, crossing the line in 8:41.19 and 8:41.59.
Will Chandler (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) anchored the 4x400 relay to a third place finish with a time of 3:34.78 and placed seventh in the mile with a time of 4:35.41. Billy Dougherty (Mt. Lebanon, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) was part of the relay and also placed eighth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:02.79.
Thomas Riordan (Campbell, S.C./Landrum) and Harry McCarthy (Westfield, N.J./Newark Academy) ran the other two legs of the relay while Riordan added a ninth place showing in the 400 meters with a time of 53.15. Sophomore Matthew Trang (Altadena, Calif./John Marshall Fundamental) posted a time of 56.93 in the 400.
Senior Patrick Nolan (Westport, Conn./Staples) was 11th in the mile (4:36.96) and 12th in the 800 meters (2:04.35), and Matt Persick (West Chester, Pa./West Chester Henderson) came in with times of 4:42.66 in the mile and 2:10.28 in the 800. Senior Eli Laue (Troy, Pa./Troy) added a mark of 4:44.64 in the mile.
Sophomore Marcus Robinson (Bowie, Md./St. Mary's Ryken) tied for eighth in the 60 meters with a time of 7.34. He was eighth in the 4x200 relay (1:39.13) and clocked a time of 24.30 to finish in the top 15 in the 200 meters.
First-years Ellis Kimmel (Philadelphia, Pa.) and twins Michael Murphy (West Pittston, Pa./Wyoming Area) and Ryan Murphy (West Pittston, Pa./Wyoming Area) completed the 4x200 relay. Ryan Murphy had a time of 7.65 in the 60 meters and went 24.75 in the 200.
Sophomore Zach Popkin (Washington, D.C./Maret School) posted a distance of 5.42 meters (17'-9.5") in the long jump.
The Red Devils return home to host the Du Charme Invitational next Saturday with a start time of 10:00 am.
