(Westminster, Md.) - The Dickinson College men's track & field team finally caught a break from the dreary weather, competing on a sunny Wednesday evening at McDaniel College.

The Red Devils dominated the meet, winning seven of the fourteen events held. The top performance of the day unquestionably came from senior captain Mike Tucker (Pottstown, Pa./Pottstown) who came in second place in the shot put, throwing the 16-pound ball 15.14 meters (49-8.25). That is the best throw of Tucker's career, the best in the Centennial Conference this year, and the 28th best in Division III this spring as well. Also in the throws, fellow captain Corwyn Gordon (Hanover, Pa./South Western) won the discus with a toss of 40.87m (134-1).

Competing with a nagging knee injury, sophomore Aaron Pannell (Trenton, N.J./Notre Dame) still managed to easily win both the 100 and 200 meters.  His times were 11.03 and 22.18 seconds, respectively.

The Red Devil distance runners won every event in which they competed, capturing the distance medley relay, 3000 meter steeplechase, 800 meters and the 1500 meters.

Senior Dave Breen (Bolton, Mass./Nashoba) had not run a race over barriers in nearly two years, and sophomore Greg Clark (Chester Springs, Pa./The Hill School) was making his career debut in the event.  That didn't seem to affect either runner, as they went on to take the top two spots in the steeplechase. Breen's time 9:52.61 and Clark's 10:00.49 both rank in the top seven in the conference.

In the 800, first-year Charlie Bayne (Culpepper, Va./Eastern View) continued his solid spring by finishing as the first collegiate competitor in 1:59.27. After a slow start in the 1500, senior Paul LeFrancois (Derry, N.H./Pinkerton Academy) powered away for the win in 4:19.62.

Breen was joined by classmates Dylan Straughan (Bethesda, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase), Michael Mansuy (Collegeville, Pa./Methacton), and Sean Galiczynski (Ivyland, Pa./Holy Ghost Prep) to win the distance medley relay in 11:09.50. All four were also doubling back from earlier events.

The Red Devils have the weekend off and return next weekend with two meets. They will compete at Messiah College on Saturday, April 14, and at Bucknell University on Saturday and Sunday.
