Devils Run Well at Swarthmore Last Chance Meet

(Swarthmore, Pa.) – The Dickinson College men's and women's outdoor track & field teams competed at the Swarthmore Last Chance Twilight Meet on Saturday evening. A select number of Red Devils looked to improve on, and or post NCAA qualifying times for nationals.

 

Kim Powell (Canton, Conn./Canton) clocked a personal-best time in the 5,000 meters, crossing the line in 17:36.70. First-year Taylor Ludman (Willow Street, Pa./Solanco) posted a time of 36:50.91 in the 10,000 meters. Powell, Ludman and junior Catherine Campbell (Carlisle, Pa./Trinity) all have NCAA provisional times in the 10,000 meters, and should make the cut which will be announced next week.

 

Senior Kent Pecora (Chapel Hill, N.C./Chapel Hill) ran the second fastest 5,000 meters in school history, clocking a PR-time of 14:28.62. He ranks 13th nationally in the event, and has also automatically qualified for the 3,000 meter steeplechase, and provisionally in the 1,500 meters as well.

 

Junior Dylan Straughan (Bethesda, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase) finished in the top eight in the 5,000 meters. He previously posted a provisional time and is in contention for a bid to nationals.

 

First-year Henry Mynatt (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) crossed the line in 15:01.84 while Michael Tarkoff (Warrington, Pa./C.B. South) placed third in the 10,000 meters with a time of 31:32.40.

 

Chris Johnson (Yardley, Pa./Holy Ghost Prep) was sixth in the long jump (6.11m).
