Pecora Sets School Record in 5,000 Meters
(New York, N.Y.) - Dickinson College senior Kent Pecora (Chapel Hill, N.C./Chapel Hill) set a school record, winning the 5,000 meters at the Lafayette-Rider Winter Games on Friday evening. Pecora crossed the finish line in 14:34.74. That time was an NCAA Indoor National Championship provisional qualifying time. It also marks the second record this season for Pecora, who broke his own school record in the mile last Saturday at the Haverford Keogh Invitational with a time of 4:17.32.
Teammate Dylan Straughan (Bethesda, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase) finished second in the 5,000 with an NCAA Indoor provisional qualifying time of 14:46.60.
Junior Catherine Campbell (Carlisle, Pa./Trinity) placed third in the 5,000 meters with an NCAA Indoor Championship provisional qualifying time of 17:39.83. Senior Kim Powell (Canton, Conn./Canton) clocked a time of 18:03.17 to finish sixth overall.
The Red Devils are scheduled to compete at the Susquehanna Invitational on Sunday.
