(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson College men's track & field team captured the team title at the 2010 Holiday Invitational on Saturday. The Devils combined for 216 points to better second place Messiah with 113. The Devils won seven events on the day, including the 4x200 relay and a 1-2 showing in the distance medley relay.
Junior Dylan Straughan (Bethesda, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase) won a pair of events, capturing the 5000 meters with a time of 15:05.62 and the 3000 in 8:42.83. Classmate Sean Denson (Clementon, N.J./Moorestown) crossed the line first in the 400 meters, running unattached, to post a time of 51.52. Eddie Einbender-Luks (Philadelphia, Pa./Friends Central) placed third in the 3000 with a time of 9:31.32.
Senior Jeremy Keys (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown East) ran to second place in both 200 and 400 meters, clocking times of 23.92 and 52.81, respectively.
Junior Michael Tucker (Pottstown, Pa./Pottstown) won the shot put with a toss of 13.90 meters. Corwyn Gordon (Hanover, Pa./South Western) placed second with a distance of 12.96 meters. Andrew Hubley (West Chester, Pa./The Haverford School) and Casey Caslin (West Chester, Pa./Henderson) placed fourth and fifth, respectively, with throws of 12.69 and 12.43.
The Devils dominated in the mile capturing five of the top six places, led by first-year Omar Hyjek (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) in second with a time of 4:29.54. First-year Jonathan Jackson (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) won the 600 meters, clocking a time of 1:26.79.
The Devils earned second place points in the high jump behind junior Eric Mundschenk (Timonium, Md./Baltimore Friends) with a height of 1.72 meters and in the 55 meters as first-year Aaron Pannell (Trenton, N.J.) clocked a time of 6.71 seconds.
Senior Chris Johnson (Yardley, Pa./Holy Ghost Prep) placed fourth in the long jump (5.99m), followed by first-year Connor Shields (Westfield, N.J.) in fifth (5.94m). Shields added fourth place showings in the high jump (1.62m) and the triple jump (11.97m).
The Red Devils return to action on January 23rd at the Susquehanna University Open.
