Abbate, Smart Post Wins at Susquehanna Invitational

(Selinsgrove, Pa.) - The Dickinson College men's track & field team turned in some strong performances at the Susquehanna Invitational.


Senior Greg Smart (Langhorne, Pa./Lawrenceville) won the high jump, clearing a height of 1.85 meters. Classmate Anthony Abbate (Haddonfield, N.J./Haddonfield) won the wieght throw with a distance of 16.66 meters.


Junior Alex Shirley (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley) was second in the high jump at 1.80 meters. Sophomore Sean Denson (Clementon, N.J./Moorestown) ran to second place in the 400 meters with a time of 51.16.


Sophomore Ted MacDonald (Langorne, Pa./Neshaminy) placed third in the 5000 meters (15:37.69) while Greg Leak (Chadds Ford, Pa./Unionville) (8:39.39) and Kent Pecora (Chapel Hill, N.C./Chapel Hill) (8:50.54) placed third and fourth in the 3000 meters at Bucknell.


Dale Rodman (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman) added a fourth place finish in the 200 meters (23.80). Nick Karwoski (Hollis, N.H./Groton) placed fifth in the 5000 meters at Boston University with a time of 14:36.84.


The Devil men also captured the 4x400 relay at Susquehanna with a time of 3:31.90.


The Red Devils return home to host the DuCharme Invitational next Saturday.
