(Hilton Head, S.C.) – The Dickinson men's tennis team suffered a 5-4 setback to Milligan on Sunday, but rebounded for a 6-3 win, over Millsaps University on Monday.
The Red Devils trailed Milligan, 2-1, after doubles. Junior Josh Kaseff (Westport, Conn./Staples) and sophomore Evan Davis (Westport, Conn./Staples) earned the point with an 8-4 win in the third flight.
The Red Devils came away with three singles flights, but couldn't overcome the deficit. First-year Clark Chapman (Princeton, N.J./Montgomery) claimed the second flight, (6-2, 6-2) while classmate Steven Kaplan (Pelham, N.Y./Pelham Memorial) won the fifth flight in straight sets, (6-3, 6-2).
Sophomore John Kneisley (Arlington, Va./Yorktown) posted a (6-4, 6-3) decision in the sixth flight.
On Monday, the Red Devils broke into the win column. Chapman and Kaplan rolled to an 8-1 win the second doubles flight while Kaseff and Davis went 8-0 in the third flight to put Dickinson in front, 2-1.
Kaplan added another point, capturing the fourth singles flight, (6-4, 6-1). Kneisley and Joey Frank (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla./Boca Raton) claimed straight set wins in the fifth and sixth flights, respectively.
First-year Jackson Claudio (Upper Montclair, N.J./Montclair) won in the third position, (7-5, 6-1).
The Red Devils improve to 1-2 on the season. They return to action on Tuesday, facing Charleston at 8:00 am.
