Red Devils Face Tough Draws at ITA Southeast Regionals



(Fredericksburg, Va.) – The Dickinson men's tennis team traveled south to compete in the ITA Southeast Regionals, hosted by the University of Mary Washington.


Senior Ari Blask (Chevy Chase, Md./Charles E. Smith) posted a (7-6, 4-6, 6-1) win over Goucher's Seth Hoseman in the opening round of the Championship Singles Draw. He suffered a tough loss to Carnegie Mellon's Abhishek Alla in the second round.


Blask teamed up with sophomore John Kneisley (Arlington, Va./Yortown) in the Blue 1 Doubles Draw. The pair claimed a 9-7 decision in the opening round, turning back Hampden-Sydney. Salisbury's Shane and Shanon Gunther survived a close second round match-up, 9-8 (5).


First-year Jackson Claudio (Upper Montclair, N.J./Montclair) won his opening round match in the Blue 2 Singles Flight, battling Christopher Newport's Arttu Fiva (6-3, 4-6, 10-8). He suffered a three-set loss to Washington & Lee's, flight champion Will Bannister, in the quarterfinals (3-6, 6-1, 10-4).


Sophomore Joey Frank (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla./Boca Raton) and first-year Clark Chapman (Princeton, N.J./Montgomery) had tough draws in the B1 and B3 singles flights. They combined for a 1-2 mark in the Championships Doubles Flight.
