Men's Tennis Has Strong Showing at Centennial Fall Invitational

(Swarthmore, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's tennis team turned in some strong individual performances at the Centennial Conference Fall Invitational, hosted by Swarthmore College. The Red Devils had players advance to the Flight B and Flight C Singles Finals.

 

Jon Brittin (McLean, Va./Landon) posted a pair of straight set wins, posting a 6-0, 6-0 win against McDaniel's Daniel Xinis and a (6-1, 6-1) victory over F&M's Perint Lertdumrikam. He suffered a tough (7-6, 6-1)J setback to Swarthmore's Matt Hirsh.

 

Senior Ari Blask (Chevy Chase, Md./Charles E. Smith) advanced to the Flight C final before falling to first-year teammate Joseph Frank (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.), 6-4, 6-2. Frank advanced with straight set wins against McDaniel, dropping just one set in two matches.

 

Blask advanced to the final with a 6-1, 6-1 decision against McDaniel and a (7-5, 6-2) win over teammate Erik DiNardo (Carlisle, Mass.). DiNardo also won a straight set victory in the opening round.

 

In doubles, senior Will Golinkin (Houston, Texas/Kincaid School) and Franco Mena (Azcunaga, Quito, Ecuador/Colegio Americano de Quito) went 1-1, posting a win over McDaniel before falling to Johns Hopkins in a tight, 8-6, match.

 

Brittin and Hunter Dewing-Hommes (Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich) posted an 8-1 win while Frank and Di Nardo teamed up for an 8-0 victory to both advance to the Flight B doubles final. 

 

The Red Devils will next compete in the USTA/ITA Southeast Regional Championships.
