Division II Kutztown Slips Past Red Devils 5-4

(Hilton Head, S.C.) – The Dickinson College men's tennis team suffered a heartbreaking 5-4 setback to Division II Kutztown University on Monday.

 

The Red Devils opened with a 2-1 lead, claiming the first and third doubles flights. Will Golinkin (Houston, Texas/Kincaid) and Franco Mena (Azcunaga Quito, Ecuador) captured the top flight, 8-4 while David London (Chevy Chase, Md./Maret School) and Jon Britton (McLean, Va.) earned the win in the third flight, 8-5.

 

The Bears claimed the top three singles flights and posted a three-set win in the sixth flight to secure a 5-4 victory. Ari Blask (Chevy Chase, Md./Charles E. Smith) won the fourth flight in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1 while Britton earned a second point with a 2-6, 7-6, 10-7 decision in the fifth flight.

 

The Red Devils slip to 0-2 on the year. They will play three more matches in Hilton Head before returning north to open Centennial Conference play at Washington College on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
