Cardinals Slip Past Devil Men in Tennis 5-4

(Washington, D.C.) - The Dickinson College men's tennis team suffered a tough loss in its fall opener, dropping a 5-4 decision at Catholic University on Saturday.

 

The Cardinals held a 2-1 advantage following doubles, capturing the first two flights, 9-7 and 8-4. Cole Agin (Delaware, N.J./Blair Academy) and Erik Dinardo (Carlisle, Mass.) put the Devils on the board with a 9-7 win in the third flight of doubles.

 

Junior Will Golinkin (Houston, Texas/Kincaid) led the Devils to a sweep of the top three singles flights, claiming the top spot, 6-3, 6-3. Sophomore Dixon Blue (Westminster, Md./McDonogh) and first-year Franco Mena (Azcunaga Quito, Ecuador) posted wins in the second and third flights with identical 6-2, 6-2 scores, respectivley.

 

Catholic rallied for the win, capturing the fourth, fifth and sixth flights. The Devils battled to three-set decisions in the four and five flights, but the Cardinals would come out on top, improving to 3-0 on the season.

 

The Red Devils will compete at the ITA Atlantic South Regional Tournament on the weekend of October 1st.
