Adams Wins Third Straight Conference Title in 50 Freestyle

(Lancaster, Pa.) – The Dickinson College men's swim team is second after the first day of the Centennial Conference Championships while the Red Devil women are currently third. The Red Devils combined for four school records on the day.


Junior Jason Adams (Kingston, Jamaica/Kent School, Conn.) won his third straight title in the 50 freestyle. He broke the conference, championship, pool and school records in the process, clocking an NCAA-automatic qualifying time of 20.16.


Adams claimed two more titles in Friday night, swimming the lead legs of the 200 free and 400 medley relay events. Senior Zach Yocum (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) anchored the relays to times of 1:25.35 and 3:27.24, respectively.


Senior Ed Barnard (Springfield, Pa./Haverford School) swam the second legs of the relays while classmate Kevin Chibbaro (North Brunswick, N.J./North Brunswick Twp.) joined the 200 free and first-year Theo Hubbard (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) was the third leg of the medley.


Hubbard earned All-Conference honors, swimming to second in the 200 individual medley. He set a school record, touching the wall in a time of 1:54.38.


Sophomore Chris Miles (Hartford, Conn./Kingswood Oxford) advanced to the finals, placing eighth in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:51.08.


The Red Devil men trail Gettysburg by 46 points, heading into the second day of competition. The Championships conclude on Sunday eventing.
