(Gettysburg, Pa.) – The Gettysburg men's and women's swim teams swept visiting Dickinson on Wednesday night to both remain unbeaten in the Centennial Conference. The Red Devil men suffered their first conference loss of the season, falling to 4-1 in the CC and 9-2 overall. The Red Devil women slip to 8-5 overall and 4-3 in the CC.
The men suffered a 135-69 setback while the women dropped a 119-86 decision.
Caitlin Klockner (Acton, Mass./Acton-Boxborough Regional) had another great meet, posting a triple-win on the night. She touched the wall first in the 100 and 200 freestyle events, clocking times of 55.25 and 1:57.86, respectively. She anchored the winning 400 free relay, combining for a time of 3:42.85.
Junior Carson Gannon (Morristown, N.J./Morristown Beard) swam the third leg of the free relay and captured another win in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:45.89.
Clara Russell (Oakdale, N.Y./Connetquot) and Alex Melchiorre (Voorhees, N.J./Bishop Eustace Prep) rounded out the free relay while sophomore Alexandra Goodson (Boiling Springs, Pa./Boiling Springs) won the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 1:03.26.
The Bullet men were disqualified in the 400 medley relay, giving the Red Devils the win to open the meet. Chris Miles (Hartford, Conn./Kingswood Oxford) swam the first leg, followed by Ed Barnard (Springfield, Pa./Haverford School), Cameron Phillips (Andover, Mass./Phillips Academy Andover) and Zach Yocum (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest), posting a time of 3:40.41.
Barnard won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:00.87 while first-year Theo Hubbard (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) added a win in the 500 yard freestyle, posting a time of 4:52.12.
The Red Devils are on the road again this weekend, traveling to Swarthmore College for a 1:00 start on Saturday.
