Adams Repeats as Oustanding Performer, Devil Men Second at Championships
(Gettysburg, Pa.) – Dickinson College sophomore Jason Adams (Kingston, Jamaica/Kent School, Conn.) was named the Outstanding Male Performer at the 2012 Centennial Conference Swimming Championships. Adams earned the honor for the second straight year, leading the Red Devils to second place in the team standings. Gettysburg captured the title with 846 points. The Devils combined for 624 while Franklin & Marshall finished third with 555.
Adams anchored the men's 400 free relay to second place and honorable mention All-Conference honors. The Devils clocked a time of 3:07.30. Senior Doug Murray (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) swam the lead leg with juniors Zach Yocum (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) and Ed Barnard (Springfield, Pa./Haverford School) in the middle.
Barnard won the conference title in the 200 breaststroke while sophomore Brandon Gauthier (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) placed second. Barnard won the title with a time of 2:08.23. Gauthier clocked a time of 2:08.60 after breaking his own school record in the prelims with a time of 2:07.64.
Adams had another outstanding meet, posting NCAA automatic qualifying times in the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke. He won conference titles in four events and earned three silvers while breaking five school records.
Senior Tristan White (Auburn, N.Y./Hotchkiss School) placed fourth in the 200 backstroke, twice breaking the school record. He clocked a time of 1:56.37 in the prelims and then posted a time of 1:55.32 in the final. Chris Miles (Hartford, Conn./Kingswood Oxford) was fifth with a time of 1:56.77.
Carson Gannon (Morristown, N.J./Morristown Beard) earned honorable mention All-CC in the 1650 freestyle, placing second and breaking the school record with a time of 17:37.84.
Natalie Le Blanc (Westport, Conn./Staples) placed third in the 200 backstroke, touching the wall just 55 hundredths of a second of the school record with a time of 2:09.91.
Senior Eva Kolstad (Cheshire, Conn./Hopkins School) placed third in the 100 freestyle with a time of 54.07.
The Red Devil women finished fifth overall in the team standings. Swarthmore's Supriya Davis was named the 2012 Outstanding Female Performer of the Meet.
