Devil Swimmers Keep Pace in Sunday Prelims
(Gettysburg, Pa.) - The Dickinson College men's and women's swim teams are enjoying a record-setting weekend at the Centennial Conference Championships in Gettysburg. Nine school records have fallen on the men's side, many more than once while the women erased four school marks as the teams head into the final session on Sunday night.
Senior Andrew Wade (Stamford, Conn./Westhill) set a new school record in the 200 yard freestyle. He placed second in the prelims with a time of 46.70.
First-year Brandon Gauthier (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) touched the wall first in the prelims of the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:12.79. Senior Jordan Reed (Mercersburg, Pa./Mercersburg Academy) also advanced to the final, placing fifth with a time of 2:15.53. First-year Cris Miranda (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) advanced to the finals in the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:00.75.
First-year Carson Gannon (Morristown, N.J./Morristown Beard) had the second-best time in the 100 yard freestyle, advancing to the final with a time of 54.09. Junior Eva Kolstad (Cheshire, Conn./Hopkins School) also advanced, touching the wall in 54.82.
Natalie LeBlanc (Westport, Conn./Staples) touched the wall second in the 200 backstroke to advance to tonight's final with a time of 2:10.67.
The Red Devil men are currently in fourth place while the women stand fifth. Competition concludes with tonight's final session, beginning at 6:00 pm.
