Adams Automatic Again as Devils Keep Erasing Records

(Gettysburg, Pa.) – Saturday night's session of the Centennial Conference swimming championships brought more of the same for Dickinson College as they saw more strong individual performances and more records fall on day two of the three day event. The Red Devil men stand in fourth place with 370.5 while host Gettysburg remains in the lead with 494 points. The Red Devil women are fifth in the team standing with 289 points. The Bullets lead on the women's side as well with 474.

 

First-year Jason Adams (Kingston, Jamaica/Kent School, Conn.) brought the eraser once again, setting conference, championship meet, school, and pool records in the 100 butterfly and as the lead leg of the 200 medley relay. He clocked a time of 49.07 to erase his school record in the butterfly and post an NCAA automatic qualifying time. He matched his 100 yard backstroke record with an NCAA automatic qualifying time. He set the conference, meet, school, and pool record with an identical time in the lead leg of the 400 medley relay on Friday.

 

The 200 medley relay clocked a record time of 1:34.05. Senior Jordan Reed (Mercersburg, Pa./Mercersburg Academy) swam the second leg of the medley relay, adding a school and pool record with a conference title in the 100 yard breaststroke, touching the wall first in 59.40. Classmate Andrew Wade (Stamford, Conn./Westhill) anchored the medley relay and placed fifth in the 200 freestyle. He was just eight-hundredths of a second of the school mark with a time of 1:43.80.

 

First-year Brandon Gauthier (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) bettered his school record from the afternoon session with a time of 4:15.17, placing fifth in the 400 individual medley. He added another fifth place finish with the 800 free relay (7:13.63).

 

Sophomore Zach Yocum (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) earned a conference title with the medley relay and swam the second leg of the 800 free relay. Junior Tristan White (Auburn, N.Y./Hotchkiss School) led off the 800 free relay and added points with an eighth place showing in the 100 backstroke (54.74) while senior Tyler Derreth (Hanover, Pa./South Western) anchored the 800 free relay.

 

First-year Carson Gannon (Morristown, N.J./Morristown) continues to make her mark in her rookie campaign. She placed second in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:55.39 and helped the 800 free relay win the conference title with a school and pool record time of 7:52.02. Junior Eva Kolstad (Cheshire, Conn./Hopkins School) finished third in the 200 freestyle (1:57:47) and also joined the 800 free relay.

 

First-year Natalie LeBlanc (Westport, Conn./Staples) anchored the 800 free relay and placed third in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:00.90. Classmate Gillie Grattan (Richmond, Va./Trinity Episcopal) earned All-Conference honors with the 800 free relay as well, and placed sixth in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:58.62.

 

Competition continues and concludes with sessions tomorrow morning and evening.
