(Haverford, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's squash team held strong at #17 in the newest College Squash Association national rankings. The Red Devils had a pair of strong outings on Saturday, opening the day with a 9-0 victory over host, #29-ranked Haverford College and blanking New York University, 9-0, as well.
Dickinson was dominant in the opening match, sweeping all nine flights, 3-0. First-year Finn Trimble (Whangarei, New Zealand/Whangarei) claimed the top flight (11-3, 11-8, 11-2) while Alex Wattles (Millbrook, N.Y./Millbrook) posted a solid win in the number five spot, going (11-2, 11-4, 11-1).
First-year Tanay Murdia (New Fatehpura Udaipur/India/Delhi Public School) showed well in the six spot with an (11-4, 11-1, 11-8) decision.
First-year Frank Goossens (Schaarbeekstraat, Amsterdam/Vossius Gymnasium) moved into the top flight against NYU, posting a 3-1 win (12-10, 3-11, 12-10, 11-7).
Cory Litman (Lower Merion, Pa./Lower Merion) won the second flight 3-0 while Wattles earned his second win of the day, claiming the number three spot, 3-0 as well.
The Red Devils surrendered just three sets to the Royals as they improve to 8-7 overall. They return home to host Franklin & Marshall, next Saturday at 1:00 pm.
