(Carlisle, Pa.) – The #20-ranked Dickinson women's squash team suffered a 9-0 setback to #12-ranked George Washington University on Saturday afternoon while the #22-ranked men's team fell to the #14-ranked Colonials, 9-0, as well.
Domenica Romo (Ambato, Ecuador/Colegio Atenas) had a strong match in the second flight, falling 3-1 (13-11, 11-2, 5-11, 11-7). Sophomore Hedvika Suchankova (Olomouc, Czech Republic) battled in the top flight in a (11-4, 11-7, 11-9) setback.
In the men's match sophomore Hal Holappa (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) and Alexander Wattles (Millbrook, N.Y./Millbrook) played to 3-1 setbacks in the second and third flights. Holappa suffered a (12-10, 11-6, 8-11, 11-4) loss at #2 while Wattles dropped a (11-6, 11-7, 9-11, 11-3) decision in the third spot.
Sophomore Vincent Warzecha (Chester Springs, Pa./Malvern Prep) jumped out to 2-0 lead in the seventh, but Nicholas Valderrama came back to claim the flight (11-13, 4-11, 11-6, 11-9, 11-7).
The men and women are back in action again on Sunday, traveling to Drexel University for a 12:00 pm match.
