(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's soccer team earned three spots on the 2017 All-Centennial Conference Team, announced on Wednesday.
Senior Matt Edmonds (Lexington, Mass./Lexington) was an unanimous selection to the First-team, while classmate Chris Pollock (Salem, Va./North Cross) and sophomore Kevin Gilbert (Boxford, Mass./Masconomet Regional) were named to the Second-team.
Edmonds makes his second straight appearance on the First-team, leading the Red Devils to the NCAA Tournament for the eighth time in program history. He ranks fourth in the conference with seven assists and sixth in goals with eight this season. He recorded a hat-trick in a big win over the University of Scranton, and dished out three assists to lead the Red Devils past McDaniel College.
Pollock earns his third selection to the All-Conference squad, earning Second-team honors in 2015 and honorable mention last fall. A four-year starter under Head Coach Brian Redding, Pollock has owned his role as a holding midfielder to lead Dickinson to four straight Centennial Conference playoff appearances during his career.
The Red Devils advanced to the conference final in 2015 and again this fall, leading the conference in goals (51) and points (135), while matching Johns Hopkins with a conference-best 33 assists. Pollock played in 78 games, earning starts in all but two matches throughout his career. He tallied a goal and an assist this season, but plays more of a possession and distribution role in the midfield. He has quarterbacked the Red Devils into one of the most offensively productive teams in the conference.
Gilbert continues to develop into one of the top goal-scorers in the Centennial. This season, he ranks second in the CC with 31 points, scoring 13 goals to go with five assists. He scored back-to-back goals in back-to-back wins over Ursinus and Misericordia this season. He tallied twice in four games, scoring a pair and handing out an assist in the Devils', opening round playoff win at Haverford.
The Red Devils are currently 11-6-3 overall and will travel to Lynchburg College for the opening round of the 2017 NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championship on Saturday.
Dickinson will face Emory University at 4:30 pm on Saturday while Lynchburg plays host to Penn State Abington in the first match at 2:00 pm. The winners will advance to Sunday's second round match, scheduled for 4:00 pm.
