(Baltimore, Md.) – The #9-ranked Johns Hopkins Blue Jays closed out the regular season with a 3-0 win over the visiting Dickinson men's soccer team on Friday night at Homewood Field. Johns Hopkins will host the final four on Friday and the championship on Sunday while the Red Devils will face Haverford College in the first round on Tuesday.
If Haverford defeats Swarthmore on Saturday, they will host the Red Devils while a tie or loss will make Dickinson the host.
Connor Jacobs scored a pair of goals and senior Mike Swiercze converted a penalty kick in the second half to earn the Blue Jays the top seed in next weekend's Centennial Conference final four.
Jacobs put the Blue Jays on the board in the 25th minute and Swiercze stretched the margin to 2-0 in the 52nd minute with a well-placed PK in the lower left corner of the net. Jacobs broke free again with 6:49 remaining for the final tally of 3-0.
Shots were even on the night at 12-12 while the Blue Jays held a 7-2 advantage on corners. Bryan See made four saves for Hopkins while John Baney (Ridgewood, N.J./Kimberley Montclair Academy) tallied a pair for Dickinson.
The Red Devils slip to 10-5-2 overall and 4-2-2 in the conference. The Red Devils will face Haverford College on Tuesday with the site depending on the outcome of Saturday's match between Haverford and Swarthmore.
