(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's soccer team turned in a potent offensive performance on Tuesday night, posting a 6-0 shutout over the visiting University of Scranton. The Red Devils used a balanced attack and tallied three goals in each half as the Red Devils move to 9-3-1 on the season.
Senior Matt Edmonds (Lexington, Mass./Lexington) led the charge with a hat-trick, scoring the first two goals of the game in a span of less than three minutes.
Edmonds finished an assist from sophomore Kevin Gilbert (Boxford, Mass./Masconomet Regional), 5:11 into the contest and hit a rocket, 2:31 later, with an assist from first-year Colin Fagan (Chalfont, Pa./C.B. South).
Senior Ryan Brown (Schnecksville, Pa./Moravian Academy) closed out the half with an unassisted goal with 25:21 remaining in the opening stanza.
Edmonds completed the hat-trick with a penalty kick in the 54th minute to stretch the lead to 4-0.
Gilbert would put the finishing touches on the match, scoring twice in the final 25 minutes while Fagan added another assist to his line for the night.
Blake Hammert made three saves for the Royals as they slip to 7-6 on the season.
First-year John Baney (Ridgewood, N.J./Montclair Kimberley) made seven saves to raise his season record to 6-1.
The Red Devils held a 16-7 advantage in shots while Scranton had the edge in corners, 5-1.
Dickinson returns to Centennial Conference action on Saturday night, traveling to #24-ranked Gettysburg College for a 7:00 pm kick-off.
