(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's soccer team posted an impressive, 4-0 win over DeSales University, in the opening round of the Brothers Pizza Blue Jay/Red Devil Classic on Saturday.
The Red Devils capitalized on a foul inside the 18-yard box as junior Alfred Hylton-Dei (Geneva, Switzerland/Mercersburg Academy, Pa.) converted a nifty penalty kick to put the Red Devils on the board.
The Red Devils struck twice in a span of just over two minutes to take control of the match, 3-0, at halftime. First-year Will Bracken (Easton, Conn./Joel Barlow) tallied his first collegiate goal, set-up by a beautiful lead pass from junior Alex Bialko (Toms River, N.J./Christian Brothers Academy) in the 41st minute.
Dickinson quickly struck again as first-year Matthew Edmonds (Lexington, Mass./Lexington) found the net for the first time in a Red Devil uniform, with just 2:35 remaining in the half. He finished a nice feed from senior George Naranjo (Miramar, Fla./American Heritage-Delray).
Senior Reed Milbrath (Dickerson, Md./Sandy Springs Friends) earned the start and had to work for the shutout, turning away a penalty kick in the second half. Milbrath made a nice read to make the stop and keep the slate clean. Junior Jake Schreer (Towako, N.J./Morristown-Beard) came on to close out the match.
The Red Devils improve to 2-1 on the season. They are in action again on Sunday, hosting Ithaca College at 2:00 pm on Miller Memorial Field. Ithaca was scheduled to play at Elizabethtown this afternoon, but that match was canceled due to bad weather.
