Last Second Goal Leads Blue Devils Past Red


(Washington, D.C.) – The Dickinson men's soccer team suffered a heartbreaking setback to Fredonia State as the Blue Devils scored the lone goal of the match with just 36 seconds left to play. Hunter Critchlow led Fredonia to the title of "Turk" D.C. Classic with an unassisted goal as they improve to 2-0 on the season.


The Red Devils, ranked 24th in the NSCAA preseason national poll, slip to 1-1 on the season. The match was even statistically with the Dickinson holding an 11-8 advantage in shots and a 5-2 edge in corners.


Sophomore Jeremy Palcon (Park Ridge, Ill./St. Ignatious Prep) earned the start in goal, making four saves in the Red Devil nets. Sam Torrelli made three saves for Fredonia.


The Red Devils return home next weekend for a pair of games at Miller Memorial Field. Dickinson will host DeSales University at 2:00 pm on Saturday and welcomes Ithaca College for a 2:00 pm start on Sunday.
