Mena Nets Three in Devil Win

(Washington, Pa.) – The Dickinson College men's soccer team registered its first win of the season, rolling past Washington & Jefferson, 6-1, on Wednesday. The Red Devils tallied four goals in the first half and tacked on a pair in the second to improve to 1-0-2 on the season.

 

 

Sophomore Javier Mena (San Salvador, El Salvador/American School) struck for three goals on the night, putting the Devils on the board in the 16th minute. Mena finished with a header on a cross from Kyle Schwab (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom). Schwab dished out another assist in the 22nd minute, finding Derek Kachadurian (Weston, Mass./Weston) to put the Devils in front, 2-0.

 

 

Mena struck again, assisted by senior P.J. Levinsky (Pottersville, N.J./Delbarton ), just over two minutes later, stretching the margin to 3-0. Junior Nicolas Tierno (Sicklerville, N.J./Timber Creek Regional) gave Dickinson a 4-0 advantage at the break, scoring unassisted in the 35th minute of the first half.

 

 

Mena opened the second half with his third goal of the game, finding the back of the net at the 53:53 mark. Thad Piscatelli spoiled the shutout in the 58th minute, scoring off an assist from Sam Sestito. The Devils answered with a final tally in the 71st minute as Levinsky was on the receiving end this time, scoring with an assist from first-year Robbie Rubenstein (Penn Valley, Pa./Haverford School).

 

 

Cody Hickok (Redding, Conn./Joel Barlow) made three saves in the first half. Christian Hall (Baltimore, Md./Gilman) came on after the break to stop three shots as well.

 

 

The Red Devils improve to 1-0-2 in the season. They return home to host the Red Devil Classic on Saturday and Sunday. Arcadia, Skidmore and Stevenson will travel to Carlisle this weekend.
