(Carlisle, Pa.)  The Dickinson College men's soccer team defeated visiting Ursinus College, 3-0, in a hard-fought matchup here on Saturday afternoon.

The game was physical right from the start.  The Red Devils worked the ball down the field and made several attempts, but were not able to find the goal. At the seven minute mark, sophomore Nicolas Tierno (Sicklerville, N.J./Timber Creek Regional) was finally able to connect with the back of the net, scoring off of an assist from Senior Dale Rodman (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman).

In the second half of the game, the level of play intensified. Tierno proved to be invaluable as he scored once more, this time unassisted, at the 50:44 mark. The final goal of the day came off of another Rodman assist, scored by first-year Chris Shultz (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown West) with 14 minutes remaining in regulation.

The Red Devils had a dominant day on offense, forcing six corner kicks, all of which were taken by first-year stand-out Javier Mena (San Salvador, El Salvador/American School), who also controlled play in the midfield.

Sophomore goaltender Cody Hickok (Redding, Conn./Joel Barlow) saw 78:25 minutes of play,  made two saves, and earned the win in goal. Classmate Christian Hall (Baltimore, Md./Gilman) finished out the game with 11:35 minutes in net, and also made two saves, giving the Devils a well-earned shut-out.

Next up for the Red Devils is a home match against Misericordia University, Wednesday at 4:00 pm.
