Devils Advance to Final of Kickoff Classic With 3-1 Win

(Williamsport, Pa.)- The Dickinson College men's soccer team advanced to the finals of the Lycoming College Kickoff Classic with a 3-1 victory over Utica College on Saturday.

 

The Red Devils went in front 1-0 on a miscue and own goal by Utica in the 30th minute. Junior Thomas Parkinson (Westfield, N.J>/Westfield) scored his fourth goal of the season with an assist from first-year Nicolas Tierno (Sicklerville, N.J./Timber Creek Regional) in the 52nd minute to put the Devils in front 2-0.

 

Utica answered with a goal in the 81st minute by Oluwaseon Ileboni off an assist from Jeremy Peirce.

 

Dickinson tacked on another in the final minute of the game as first-year Jacob Hostetler (Strasburg, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg)found the net, assisted by Magen Mintz (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) at the 89:02 mark.

 

First-years Cody Hickok (reading, Conn./Joel Barlow) and Christian Hall (Baltimore, Md./Gilman) split time in the Dickinson net, combining for four saves.

 

The Red Devils held a 13-7 shot advantage and forced nine corners while allowing just five on defense.

 

Dickinson improves to 2-0 on the season and will face host Lycoming in the in the championship game on Sunday at 1:30 pm.
